35 Years Together: Brooke Brown

This week, we’re proud to share the story of Brooke Brown, a Greater Than alum who went from dreaming about college as a 5th grader at Alder Elementary to now working with first-generation college programs at the University of Portland.

Feature Story: Brooke Brown, Greater Than Alum

Brooke’s connection to Greater Than began in elementary school. Back then, college felt far away. But through mentorship, exposure to college campuses, and constant encouragement from staff like her mentor Renee, Brooke found the confidence and support to chase her dreams.

After graduating from Reynolds High School, Brooke continued on to Portland Community College through Future Connect and later earned her bachelor’s degree from Linfield University in 2023.

Now, as the Program Manager for First Generation Programs at the University of Portland, she’s helping students navigate the same journey she once walked.

Brooke has also returned to Alder Elementary as a mentor and guest speaker—bringing her story full circle and inspiring the next generation.
